LLBWS New England Regional Final: Massachusetts Falls To Rhode Island After Fifth Inning Score

Saturday's game against Rhode Island was a heartbreaker for Massachusetts, as they lost the lead late in a 3-2 defeat. The game was tied at two with Rhode Island batting in the top of the fifth when Jake Mather hit a solo homer.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Rhode Island pitchers struck out five, while Massachusetts sat down eight.

Massachusetts knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the third inning. Cam Sime drew a walk, scoring one run.

Logan Lama was the winning pitcher for Rhode Island. He went four and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out five. Anthony Colucci threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen. Anthony recorded the last four outs to earn the save for Rhode Island.

Evan Blake took the loss for Massachusetts. He went five innings, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out eight.

Cam, Evan, Jake Duquette, and Roshan Warriar each collected one hit to lead Massachusetts.Massachusetts was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Antonio Scalisehad the most chances in the field with eight.

Jake led Rhode Island with three hits in three at bats.
