Japan Region Advances to International Championship Game

Japan defeated Canada 10-0 on Wednesday as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Yuya Nakajima induced a fly out from Robert Orr to finish off the game.

Japan grabbed an early lead. Japan scored on a single by Natsuki Yajima and a double by Ryota Ono in the first inning.

Japan took an early lead in the first inning. With two outs in the first inning Natsuki drove in one run when he singled.



Japan scored four runs in the third inning. Japan scored on a home run, a error, and a double by Riku Goto.

One bright spot for Canada was a single by Ty Fluet in the second inning.

Tsubasa Tomii earned the win for Japan. He went three innings, allowing zero runs, one hit, and striking out five. Two relievers helped Japan close out the victory. Ryuto Konno threw one and one-third innings. Reece Usselman took the loss for Canada. He tossed two and a third innings, allowing six runs, six hits, striking out five, and walking one.

Home runs for Japan came when Natsuki homered in the third inning and Yuya Nakajima homered in the fourth inning.

Japan had 11 hits in the game. Natsuki and Ryota each collected multiple hits for Japan. Yuya and Natsuki each drove in three runs to lead Japan. Japan didn't commit a single error in the field. Seiya Arai had the most chances in the field with eight.

Ty led Canada with one hit in one at bats.
