Led behind a 2-for-3 performance that included a home run, Miles Risley helped Iowa's Johnston Little League to a 3-0 victory over Kansas' Frontenac Little League on Saturday at Stokely Field in Indianapolis, Ind. With the win, Iowa earned right to represent the Midwest Region in the 2016 Little League® Baseball World Series on Aug. 18-28.

Adam Williams took the loss for Kansas, lasting four innings after giving up three runs. Williams did not allow a walk in the game and picked up one strike out on the day.

With the lead in his hands, Johnston Little League's Josh Larson was able to come in to the game and put away the final three outs to record the save and earn Iowa the Midwest Region Championship title.

Iowa never surrendered the lead after the first inning as it picked up its first run of the game on a RBI single by Michael Siemer.

This marks the 13th time a team from Iowa will head to South Williamsport and the first time in league history that Johnston Little League earns the trip. The last team from Iowa to play in the LLWS was in Urbandale LL in both 2013 and 2009.

As the representative of the Midwest Region, Johnston Little League will open up the 2016 Little League Baseball World Series on Friday, Aug. 19, at 4 p.m. as it takes on the winner of the West Region.
