South Williamsport, PA - Raffi Gross went 1-2 and hit a home run, sparking Southwest to an 8-4 victory in six innings over West on Sunday at Lamade Stadium. He homered in the third inning.

Ben Gottfried racked up seven strikeouts in the Southwest win. Gottfried allowed no earned runs, three hits and no walks over 4 2/3 innings.

Dante Schmid racked up three RBIs on one hit for West. He homered in the sixth inning.

Antonio Andrade couldn't get it done on the bump for West, taking a loss. He lasted just 2 2/3 innings, walked none, struck out two, and allowed five runs.

Southwest stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first, scoring one run on an RBI single by Zack Mack.

Southwest increased its lead with five runs in the third. A clutch sacrifice fly scored Jarrett Tadlock to open the scoring in the frame. That was followed up by Gross' two-run blast, scoring Marco Gutierrez.

One West run crossed the plate in the bottom half of the third, making the score 6-1. An RBI double by Levi Mendez sparked West's rally. Southwest stopped the rally after Gottfried got Nate Nankil to strike out.

Three runs in the bottom of the sixth helped West close its deficit to 8-4. A three-run home run by Schmid gave West life. Isaac Garcia ended the game by getting Cameron Barbabosa to strike out.
