South Williamsport, PA - A nine-run explosion in the first inning lifted Mexico to a 14-3 win in four innings over Australia at Volunteer Stadium on Monday.

Mexico scored in the first on an RBI double by Gerardo Lujano, an RBI single by Raul Leon, a walk by Daniel Zaragoza, a two-run double by Andres Villa, a two-run single by Jorge Armenta, an error, and a wild pitch.

Mexico hit three home runs in the win. Home runs for Mexico came when Damian Garcia homered in the second inning, Armenta homered in the third inning, and Alberto Bustos homered in the fourth inning.

Hector Sanchez got the win for Mexico. He allowed three runs over three innings. He struck out four, walked one and surrendered six hits.

Armenta, Bustos and Garcia helped lead Mexico. They combined for six hits and seven RBIs.
