South Williamsport, PA - Mexico jumped out to an early lead on Asia-Pacific and captured an 11-1 victory on Tuesday at Lamade Stadium.

With eight runs in the first three innings, Mexico left no doubt about the eventual outcome. A three-run home run by Raul Leon during the first inning and a passed ball, a two-run single by Leon, and a passed ball in the second inning helped Mexico put some runs on the board early.

Mexico hit three home runs in the win. Additional home runs for Mexico came when Andres Villa homered in the fifth inning and Ernesto Rios homered in the fifth inning.

Leon racked up five RBIs on three hits for Mexico.

Mexico got the win thanks in large part to Armando Verdugo's dominant, six-strikeout performance. Verdugo allowed one earned run, six hits and no walks over five innings.

Yen Cheng Yu couldn't get it done on the mound for Asia-Pacific, taking a loss. He lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed four runs.

It didn't take long for Mexico to answer as it scored four runs of its own in the second. This article posted with permission of Little League Baseball®.
