International World Series Champions.

South Williamsport, PA - Armando Verdugo struck out 10 batters, but it wasn't enough to carry Mexico to a win on Saturday, as Mexico fell to Japan 1-0 at Lamade Stadium in seven innings.

Verdugo worked out of six tough spots for Mexico. He pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed one earned run on two hits. Verdugo faced his trickiest spot in the seventh inning.

Kabu Kikuchi racked up 10 strikeouts in the Japan win. Japan's pitcher gave up just four hits over seven shutout innings.

Verdugo ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss.

The seventh inning saw Japan score its only run on the day on a fielder's choice.
