Great Lakes New Albany Little League team to be honored in Williamsport

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WHAS11) -- New Albany's bid to make it to this year's Little League World Series fell short, but the team is still going to Williamsport, Pa. to be honored.
Nothing can make up for missing out on the Little League World Series
The team was ousted from 2014's World Series by a Chicago team that was later disqualified for cheating by playing with ineligible players.

The bus left Tuesday morning, Aug. 18, for Williamsport, Pa., carrying the 2014 Great Lakes Champs, for a trip that is filled with mixed emotions for the New Albany baseball players who are going to the Little League World Series, never having had the chance to play in it.

“Nothing can make up for missing out on the Little League World Series but we are appreciative that Little League is bringing us up there and recognizing us at the Great Lakes champs,” Coach Kevin Ricketts said.
