South Williamsport, PA - Matthew Wilkinson threw five scoreless innings, but it wasn't enough to carry Canada to a win on Friday, as Canada fell to Mexico 1-0 at Volunteer Stadium in six innings.

Raul Leon was solid at the plate for Mexico. Leon went 2-3 and scored one run. He singled in the fourth inning and tripled in the sixth inning.

Daniel Zaragoza handled Canada's lineup with ease, racking up 10 strikeouts. Mexico's pitcher tossed five innings of shutout ball and allowed only three hits.

Despite the loss, Canada's Matthew Wilkinson dominated Mexico's batters, giving up zero runs and striking out 16.

Gerardo Lujano recorded the win for Mexico. He tossed one inning of shutout ball. Lujano struck out three, walked none and gave up no hits.

Alen Sugimoto ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just zero innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.

The sixth inning saw Mexico score its only run on the day on an RBI single by Zaragoza.
