South Williamsport, PA - A great effort by Pierce Jones carried Great Lakes to a 12-2 win in five innings over Northwest on Thursday at Lamade.
Jones put himself in scoring position with four extra-base hits for Great Lakes. He tripled in the second inning and homered in the first, third, and fifth innings.
Ten runs in the opening three innings allowed Great Lakes to easily put away Northwest. A solo home run by Jones and an RBI double by Darion Radcliff during the first inning and a two-run home run by Ed Howard and a groundout by Trey Hondras in the second inning fueled Great Lakes' offense early.
Great Lakes hit four home runs in the win. Additional home runs for Great Lakes came when Jones homered in the first, third, and fifth innings.

Northwest's lineup had no answer for Joshua Houston. Houston gave up just two hits, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out seven during his four innings of work.
Great Lakes' Radcliff, Howard and Jones combined for seven hits and seven RBIs.
Ian Michael was charged with the loss. He lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
It didn't take long for Northwest to respond as it scored two runs of its own in the first. Northwest scored on an RBI double by Tyler Durbin and an RBI single by Tygan Duncan.
Great Lakes added five more runs in the top of the third. A wild pitch scored Marquis Jackson for the inning's first run.
