World of Little League®: Peter J. McGovern Museum and Official Store Announces New, Free Admission Policy for Military and Little Leaguers

South Williamsport, Pa. – Home to hundreds of historic pieces that tell the story of the past, present and future of Little League®Baseball and Softball, the newly renovated World of Little League®: Peter J. McGovern Museum and Official Store announced a new, free admission policy for current and former military members and any child currently playing Little League.

“Since the World of Little League opened its doors in June 2013, thousands of people have been able to learn from and interact with the exhibits on displays,” said Lance Van Auken, Little League Vice President and World of Little League Executive Director. “We’re pleased to allow current and retired members of the military, and current Little Leaguers®, the chance to experience all the new museum has to offer at no charge.”

Military Admission: Any person bearing a Geneva Convention common access card, a DD (Department of Defense) Form 1173 ID card, or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card, which includes active duty U.S. Military (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard), as well as members of the National Guard and Reserve, U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps, or those bearing a government-issued retirement ID card from any of these organizations will be admitted to the World of Little League . Up to five accompanying family members also will be admitted free with the guest.

Little Leaguer Admission: Any person who identifies himself/herself as a current Little Leaguer®, AND who is wearing a shirt/jersey that has the Little League Official Shoulder Patch on it will receive free admission.

Of the nearly 300 items displayed in the World of Little League, 200 of them have never been on display before. They include everything from Little League volunteer photographer, Russ Tinsley’s 1986 Emmy Award to a baseball signed by President George W. Bush to Little League Hall of Excellence enshrinee, Dr. Story Musgrave’s complete NASA spacesuit. It also features interactive exhibits including The ACTIVE Network Global Connections Table that connects every local Little League in the world; a catcher’s simulation station featuring former MLB pitcher and Little League International Board of Directors Member, Mike Mussina, and two Little League pitchers; a shortstop fielding station and a timed base running.

The new museum and store are designed around a six-inning theme that allows visitors to have a self-guided, educational and interactive experience.

The World of Little League: Peter J. McGovern Museum and Official Store,located at 525 U.S. Route 15 in South Williamsport, Pa., is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Regular general admission is $5. Children under 4 years old are admitted free and children 5-12 are admitted for $2. The senior admission fee is $3, for those 62 and older.
