Aguadulce Cabezera Little League Wins 2013 Latin America Region Championship and Returns to the Little League Baseball(R) World Series

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (July 30, 2013) – In a year with new countries coming to the 2013 Little League Baseball® World Series, the team from Latin America will feature some familiar faces. In Guayaquil, Ecuador, Aguadulce Cabezera Little League from Aguadulce, Panama, repeated as Latin America Region Champions, defeating San Francisco Little League from Maracaibo, Venezuela on Saturday, July 27. The league will return to South Williamsport, Pa., for the second straight year.

"Aguadulce was a wonderful competitor and showed great sportsmanship at the 2012 World Series," said Patrick Wilson, Little League® Baseball and Softball Senior Vice President and International Tournament Director. "We are excited to have them back in South Williamsport this year."

The 2012 Little League Baseball World Series was the first trip to the Series for Aguadulce Cabezera Little League. The team went 3-3, advancing to the International Championship game to be defeated by eventual champion, Kitasuna Little League from Tokyo, Japan, 10-2. At this year's region tournament, the team from Panama averaged nearly 10 runs per game, outscoring opponents 59-11. Learn more about the Latin America Region Tournament.

The Latin America Region Champions will face the Caribbean Region Champion, Samaritana Little League from San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, in the first game of the 2013 Little League Baseball World Series on Thursday, Aug. 15 at 1 p.m. at Volunteer Stadium. All games at the Little League Baseball World Series will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks, the Watch ESPN app or ABC.

The 67th Little League Baseball World Series begins on Thursday, Aug. 15 in South Williamsport, Pa., with the Championship Game scheduled for 3 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 25. For more information on the Series and to follow the action live, visit llbws.org.
