Mother’s Day Spring Craft Event Set for Saturday, May 4 at the World of Little League®Museum and Official Store

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (April 18, 2019) – Held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, The World of Little League® Museum and Official Store (252 U.S. Route 15) will be offering visitors a chance to make their own succulent planter craft just in time for Mother’s Day and the beginning of the Spring season.

“For the first time, our Museum is offering its visitors an incredible opportunity to come in and create a custom planter with the help of one of our local gardeners and plant enthusiasts,” said Lance Van Auken, Little League Vice President and Executive Director of the Museum. “This is a perfect opportunity for visitors of all ages to come out to the Museum and create a memorable craft while also having a chance to learn more about gardening and explore the history of Little League throughout our Museum.”

Crystal Joy Smith Named Little League® Data Warehouse and GIS Specialist

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (April 9, 2019) – Little League® International has officially announced the hiring of Crystal Joy Smith as the Data Warehouse and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist in the Information Services department.

“We are really excited to welcome Crystal to our team here at Little League International and are looking forward to the experience she can bring to our Information Services department,” said Andy Frederick, Little League Senior Director of Information Services. “Along with her extensive background as a GIS Specialist, Ms. Smith is well-versed in the execution of major events and will serve as a tremendous asset to our staff as we provide the best resources and support to all of our leagues around the world.”

Prior to joining the Little League staff, Ms. Smith served as the Chief Administrative Officer of the Borough of Mansfield (Pa.) where she was responsible for setting the direction and delivering results in the borough’s municipal departments. In addition to her experience working for the Borough, Ms. Smith also spent more than five years as an Emergency Management Specialist for FEMA Region 2 Mitigation in New York where she handled program management duties for the Floodplain Management elements of the National Flood Insurance Program while supporting the Regions Risk MAP Branch.

2019 Little League® Days Offer Unique MLB Experiences to Children

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (March 27, 2019) – With another exciting MLB season upon us with the earliest Opening Day in history, thousands of Little Leaguers will once again have a chance to enjoy the unique experience of MLB Little League Days in 2019.

As part of the growing partnership between Little League and MLB, “Little League Days” provide opportunities for local youth baseball and softball players to experience a Major League Baseball game at a ballpark near them.

(March 22, 2019) – Each summer during Championship Saturday of the Little League Baseball®World Series, two local Little League Challenger Division® programs are given the unique opportunity to play in a once-in-a-lifetime game on Volunteer Stadium in the Little League Challenger Division Exhibition Game. Featured in this year’s game will be Massachusetts District 12 Challenger Little League and Peterborough (Ontario) Challenger Baseball League.

Two Little League® World Series Coaches Win Positive Coach Alliance Double-Goal Coach Awards

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (March 19, 2019) – Two iconic coaches from the 2018 Little League® World Series were recently recognized for their dedication to youth sports as winners of the 2019 National Double-Goal Coach® Award by the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA).

Gerald Oda, manager of the 2018 Little League Baseball World Series Champion Honolulu (Hawaii) Little League team, and Antonio Roman, coach for the 2018 Junior League Softball World Series Keystone/West Tampa/Bayshore (Fla.) Little League team, were selected as two of 50 recipients among a pool of nearly 1,000 nominees to earn the prestigious honor.
